Day 43: Granite from “Heaven”…and South America, Italy and Kahului. Lahaina Library Facelift Timeline

Martin Nunez of Ceramic Tile Plus  makes surface between two granite pieces   seamless

On day 43, October 19, beautful granite donated by Ceramic Tile Plus ended a long journey from South America, where is was mined; Italy, where it was cut; and Kahului where the company shaped the end product  according to its precise template made its way to its final destination in Lahaina to grace our newly restored library. A  four-man crew placed the granite on a countertop built by Castaway Construction, glued it into place, and made the three main parts seamless. Next: arrival and assembly of bookshelves next week by volunteers to make the library ready for 35,000 stored books. Plans are also moving forward for a grand reopening in November. Dream becomes reality.
